Oh, I was thinking of the Grinch, definitely! Thanks. I read the hat book too, but the Grinch was definitely more of a tried-and-true classic to me. Looking up the illustrations, they seem pretty red… maybe you had a defective copy?
I couldn’t help but wonder, but is the angry sun a tribute to the angry sun in the old mario desert level games? As I stare it I can just see the sun starting to attack all of them.

Yes. I’m glad someone caught that. It terrified the crap out of me when I was like 4… imagine the very sun coming out of the sky and attacking you!
