We really didn’t plan for the arc to be this long, but… there are so many pirate tropes, and when will we have the chance again?
Yeah, I had fun. And it took me longer than I thought, because… 12 panels? And I didn’t want to copy and paste (except for the pirates between the 8th and the 10th… but I changed it up a little too).
Not that it’s *changed* so much… I still have the same googly eyes and all… I just got better! I’m really happy with the progress I’ve made in drawing. Doing fun things with panel layout itself, and angles, and continuing to experiment with coloring will be my next big steps.
Well, Idenau is a continent so the oceans around it are very extensive. But the sunken isle wasn’t too far out… it only took them several hours to get where they were going.
Skärva of all people should know where the best loot is hidden.
As to the changes since Goldgills’ first appearance, it’s only natural–it’s surely close to evening by now, and everyone knows that you have thicker lines in the morning. ;P
(Seriously, however, your art really does seem to me to have been improving throughout the run of the comic thus far. ^_^)
Hi! I’m a new reader here. I actually just discovered this comic yesterday, but I LOVE IT! I’m a total sucker for awesome and unique fantasy settings. Question: How do I upload fanart, in case I ever decide to make some?
That means a lot to us! We’re glad you enjoy the story! If you want to draw something, just upload it anywhere you’d normally keep your art and let me know through a link in a comment here. Or, you can send it directly to altermentality(at)gmail.com. I’ll put it on the fanart page
Whoa, I forgot this is pretty much taking place in ONE DAY. Wow. Time flies when you’re running amok with a bunch of pirates!
There are so many amazing expressions in this panel-

It’s always weird when you follow a webcomic and realize that a year in our time has only been like a month and a half for the characters.
Someday, somewhere, I’m going to use that 9th panel as a reaction picture.
Or… a day.
It would make a good avatar too. I’m about due for a change over here!
The lines keep getting thinner and thinner. Soon you will be doing lineless! Pure painterly style! The way of the future.
Oh dear! Nah, honestly it’s probably gonna stabilize about here. Gotta find other ways in which my art can improve!
Goldgills and his crew reminds me of the group I play pathfinder with, skip the story and go right to the fighting and loot.
Story is for nerds! (like Cyril. And me)
Holy crap, it really has been a year, just about. Gonna try and time the ending for April 8th?
Ha! No way that could happen, unless I manage to crank out a page a day.
Remember when the first act of our story wrapped up just before our first anniversary? Yeah, that was a ragingly awesome coincidence.
Your style has changed so much!

I guess floating skulls for guards is just intimidating, not so effective…
This year felt a lot longer than a day…
They’re not even that intimidating. Look at the li’l guys and their hats!
A lot has happened, but it’s seemed to me that it’s gone by pretty fast.
Goldgills looks so swashbuckling in this strip. Drunkenness must be a natural look for him.
Well… yup.
A day? But they were sailing places, doesn’t that take weeks at least? Or is Idenau bay just a large lake where pirates sail around for the lulz?
Well, Idenau is a continent so the oceans around it are very extensive. But the sunken isle wasn’t too far out… it only took them several hours to get where they were going.

I hope that you feel better soon, Courtney. ^_^
The new banner looks good, Blank’s sword looks more curved than ever!
