What a horrible night to have a curse.

The one ghost who really sticks out is not, in fact, relevant to our story. Although he is relevant to another story I once had a hand in making up. Ralph the Monk is a long-overdue cameo for faithful reader and faithfuller friend The Hanged Man! (He’s also apparently related to Fawful or something.)
just got home from midnight premiere of Dark Knight Rises, and i check this before going to bed… at 3:30 am. that’s how much i love this comic.
love the sunset, esp in panel 3!
Awww. We love you too! Me and Victor are going to see it tonight. Victor LOVES Batman, but… we also love sleep, and had to go to work today So no premiere for us.
Thanks! I love painting sunsets and sunrises, as you may have guessed!
So much love in this comment…
Ahhh… So that’s what a lurkin ghost looks like! I guess that automatically makes Ecta (and others) human. (Unless, of course, there’s a race or something you haven’t told us about yet…)
Very impressive artwork today, by the way!
Thank you!
There are some intelligent races we haven’t encountered yet, but most ghosts we’ve seen are human, yes. We’ll have an encyclopedia entry about ghosts up soon!
I get the pun, it’s a ghost town!
Indeed!
Why do the ghosts only show up at night? I mean, Ecta was walking/floating around in broad daylight earlier. Is it just a choice for the or something?
(Also– love the sunset. It looks awesome! :D)
I want to say that ghosts are really sensitive to sunlight and Ecta is just dedicated to the point of feeling no pain, but that doesn’t really make any sense. I think it’s just their choice.
I like the maniacal specter at the bottom right. Such a lovely grin~
I also really like the name of the town. From my vacation travels, I’ve seen massive fields of cattails in the middle of wide open plains, as well as peppering abandoned or unused gardens/parks. Thus I associate cattails with untamed places, or in this case: a place where no living person lives.
Also, the buildings with their multi-floor balconies and ornate fences remind me of New Orleans, at least Bourbon Street.
Thanks! He has ENNNVYYYY for the living and will get his revenge by breaking all ten commandments in TASTE THE SIN: PART 2. Coming never. /insidejokes
Apparently Cattail Crossing is also the name of a golf course in… South Dakota? It’s ok because no one has ever been there. Idenau is also a real place, but we didn’t know that when we started. And of course there’s always this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sk%C3%A4rva_House And Davis’s favorite racing… league… thing? http://ecta-lsr.com/ Ok I’m getting carried away.
Good! That was the point. Although I would say the French Quarter in general. It’s my favorite city. Me and Victor shoulg get to visit with the rest of the college band later this year.
Wow it’s a ghost town. Literally.
Yep!
I liked this episode. Found the contrast very enjoyable. I also enjoy seeing evidence that the gods really are genuinely…err…crazy enough to curse a whole town or somebody so influential that an entire town is hit by the blastwave(that sounds to be the only way to become a ghost, although might’ve disheard)
Godly curses are a common way, but not the only way.
Oh my goodness, grumpy Lurkin ghost! SO CUTE.
He needs a name, don’t you think?
Captcha says “shesRes Pasa”, which is kind of a terrible name, maybe someone can think of a better one.
Captcha is telling us that shesRes passes, in Spanish. Good for shesRes.
there really isn’t much to comment on in this one.
Well, you don’t need to comment every single time, I won’t hold it against you- HEY you did comment already! Hush, you.
The second panel’s my favorite, it just… I dunno, it looks neat I suppose!
On a minor note, do you know what y’all should get? A forum for us to go to, I reckon that’d be pretty neat.
Thanks! I think, artistically, this is one of the best comics I’ve done yet.
I think so too, but Victor wants to wait until we’re more popular, lest we start a forum only to have it languish… although I really would like to interact with and get to know you guys better outside of talking about the comic. Hopefully someday…!
(And I shall call them the Fourums. And Victor shall not stand in my way.)
Haha, yes! I was wondering at first who the handsome devil in the priestly outfit was! And now I will go to sleep with Castlevania music in my head.
What a horrible night to have Castlevania music in your head.
That ghost in the bottom right has a lovely smile.
He certainly does!
Awesome comic, guys.
Related to Fawful, as in Gerakobittsu, the Engrish-speaking Beanish kid?
If I’m mistaken, that probably sounded really dumb. xD
Coincidentally, “The Fourth” is right next to “My Immortal Fool” in my bookmarks.
Thanks!
I am saying to you, IS THERE ANOTHER WHO HAS THE BEING OF FAWFUL? I do not have the thinking of so!!!
Cammi has inspired me since I was just a little Alter first discovering the internets. Recently I told her that, and she said *I* was a great artist, and my heart exploded. True story. I feel like things have come full circle. Or something.
Lorelei, this big city is anything BUT lively.
Good one!
we understand!
Thank you. *hug*
Haha, before I read the blurb I figured it was some sort of easter egg and was supposed to be Victor.
And also, HAVE FUN ON YOUR BREAK COURTNEY.
Enjoy it while it lasts, because soon all the caring understanding people will be forming angry mobs and demanding more comics.
Haha, no, we aren’t so conceited as to put in direct author cameos.
I know, I know, I’ll get back to work tonight
Not yet you aren’t, but when I strategically convince owners of several lasers to carve “thefourthcomic.com” and get you guys really popular, you will suddenly become the main characters of your comic because that’s what the whole world wants. Except for the giraffes in South America. Because those giraffes just don’t know a great web-comic when they see one. they’re just like “Oh yeah man you know that web-comic on the moon” and the other one will be like “Meh” and they will go on doing they’re giraffe-ish things giraffes do. They’re loss.
First half of captcha is “gswage”, which sounds suspiciously like “got swag”. The captcha is turning strange…
You’re a special kind of crazy
Really, I would think the whole world would want the main characters of our comic to remain those guys up on the banner, because they’re much more interesting than we are.
…Wait giraffes don’t live in South America
It’s defined as “Partially Insane”.
True.
EXACTLY
Yeee, ghosts!
Ghosts are so easy and fun to draw!
who’s the hardest character to draw other than the princess?
(the dress)
Blank. It might just be that he shows up so little that I’m not as practiced, but a large part of it is the sword, too. Always a pain.
Of all the characters I draw more frequently, probably Floyd, actually. Only for the shirt-on-top-of-robe thing. For the most part, drawing the main characters has become second nature.
Oh no, I caught up >.< Haha, I started this comic a couple days ago at Denver's suggestion and I must say its very well done! I look forward to seeing the rest of the story!
Thank you very much! (And thanks, Denver!)
I don’t know why, but the first thing I thought of when I saw the name of that town was Animal Crossing. Now that I think about, Animal Crossing would be really cool with all ghosts instead of just one or two.
What a horrible curse to have a night!
Also, what is that ghost in the bottom right planning? He looks very mischievous!
