No, that’s not physically possible for them. When they are alert or agitated, their ears are horizontal, about like Floyd’s are in panel 3. That’s as far as they can go upwards.
I feel like I need to make a Lurkin anatomy reference sometime.
Ah… I see. I guess I just have this quirk that makes me think that characters with big/pointy ears need to express their emotions through ear positioning. To me, up is happy/positive emotion, down is sad/negative emotion, folded back is angry, etc… I suppose I’m going to have to get over that when reading your comic…
Totally understandable. Their ears just don’t work that way, or they’d hit the ceiling in a low room. The gods were at least kind enough to design them that way, because if their ears were too active, they’d be knocking each other over all the time.
Nevertheless they do stick straight out when the Lurkin is on edge and tend to flop down when they’re relieved, as you can see going on here.

On topic: I feel for the Flish. Having a long-lasting crush on someone and then having them crush your hopes and dreams to people who laugh at you hurts. But at least she wasn’t intentionally doing it and completely oblivious to his feelings for her. It’s worse when the person is fully aware and says worse things to your bullies.

Off topic: something just dawned on me. In Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons, there were a set of magic rings that could make Link shapeshift into various forms such as LikeLikes, Moblins, and Zelda 1 Link. The concept is as disturbing as Polyjuice except you don’t need bits of whom/whatever you’re turning into. You never really know who is what.
Writing that out, I’m not not certain whether or not Blank would actually use such a tool. He comes off as “gwar all monsters are evil and nothing non-human can be trusted unless they’re Light-oriented”. I can’t see him using such rings. Now, if one of Skarva’s minions was given such a ring to spy on Blank as like a bird or something… that I could see.
Indeed. Gilly still isn’t a bad person, she’s just a little oblivious and ditzy, I think. Oh boy, if the two of them ever do end up together, how would they ever survive?

Or like the masks in Majora’s Mask. Hmm, an interesting concept… I had actually never considered Lurkin-Blank or flish-Blank or even demon-Blank before, but I like the concept. I do doubt he would make use of such transformations unless they were absolutely necessary. Blank is exactly that way. Gwar!
Species transformation artifacts could make for an awesome side-story that we’ll probably never have time to delve into. Still, whenever I have time it would be great fun to doodle Lurkinslice or Flishfloyd.

Yeah, he ran out of the infirmary before the potion could fully fix him up, so the nurse at least made him slap a band aid over his wound.
I’m gonna guess there are tailor lurkins employed some where in castle Skarva as well. Lots of those uniforms need patching up.

Skarva’s ears did that in some of the earlier comics, but I’ve sorta retconned that away for consistency’s sake.
