CLIFFHANGER!
on December 10, 2012 at 12:01 amAltermentality:
Drawing these backgrounds turned out to be rather therapeutic. So much fun! I am sooo glad to be out of the manor!
Skärva is reminding me of Belle in the opening of Beauty and the Beast.
How can he read that? There’s no pictures!
I lawled at using Derk as a reading light.
Bahaha. He really is a funny one, that Skärva.
Skärva doesn’t seem like a person who scares easily, that look of terror leaves me with a worried feeling.
To be fair, he isn’t frightened by things that scare most people, but things that wouldn’t bother most people frighten him.
At the rate this comic seems to be going I’m going to hazard (a probably wrong) guess and say the artifact is a bed.
You sleep in it, and have a dream about where the keys are! Whooa. That’s pretty cool. Although you were right, it’s wrong. At least you were right about something?
“Awww, isn’t that cute. BUT IT’S WRONG!” *wonders if anyone will get that reference*
It’s a reference to two stupid dogs, the big muscular human character that they always run into says it to them, or yells depending how you see it. I’d say yells. Very nice reference :3
YESSS
aw Dirk is the cutest lamp ever!
and in my experiance i have often found that bushes are indeed very soft.
The new Derk combines aesthetics with utility! And let’s not forget the bonus features: undying loyalty and love.
I’m going to take a wild guess and say that Skarva’s face going white like that is a very very bad thing.
Well, not necessarily for you guys though
Depends on how you feel about… well, you’ll see.
Also – new commenter? Hi! Welcome! Thanks!
What a place to stop…how long can Derk hold that pose?
At least neither Skarva nor Lorelei weighs very much!
Hmm… I thought for sure that the book would be stolen before he could read it.
Heh, as much as me and Victor love our anti-climaxes… I do believe a semester’s worth of Mire Manor is quite enough to string you guys along, just to find out what kind of quest our villains have to go on!
why do they look so gloomy?
Thay haven’t slept all night! Poor things, their sleep schedules get so irregular when a scheme is afoot…
…Map? Compass? Annoying Fairy?
Instrument, necessitating a bard’s accompaniment?
Wait, what’s so wrong about the first two?
Oh no a map NOOOOOO
Although, you’re getting kinda warm!
Maybe Skärva has an irrational fear of compasses? *shrug*
My money’s on it being something owned by Blank – his sword, maybe?
Wait… OoT reference :O
He’s never going to give that up. Unless… better bust out the love potion again!
He has realized that… he must fight… himself! Oh, my! :0
Dark Skärva! Or… Good Skärva?!
Strange offhand thought: The previous lord Skarva utilized the dark lord dealy as a business more then something actually serious. I wonder if he sold merchandise related to his current scheme. Was he the original DLC salesmen!?
Ha, I love it! And I have no doubt he would do so
I don’t yet know how/when, but someday we’re going to explain more about the whole successive-dungeon-quest system that was basically created by the Third and revitalized the economy in Idenau… and which his son takes so seriously.
“Are you having too many troubles sonny-boy Blank (The elder)? Well then, just give me 50 ides and we’ll say you finished this dungeon. No problem, I won’t tell anybody.”
“Oh, hey, you want to be the hero to beat me? Kay, pay me 800 ides per dungeon, and I’ll reset ’em for you. I even have a bonus dungeon I can set up for you, sir, if you’ll pay me an extra 2400. It’ll have an extra special golden metal that my minions will pretend to cower from.”
Could it be that Lord Skärva has to face himself?
(Persona 4 reference)
No! You’re not me!!!
*fight with Skärva’s Shadow starts*
Oh poor Derk, it’s not enough that Skärva uses him as a bridge but Lorelei comes along too.
…Why did I copypaste ‘ä’ but not his entire name.
Oooh! Is it the rainbow-ball thingie from way back? That’d be sad. ‘Cause he lost it, and all. D:
That bush DOES look soft. Fantastic job on the backgrounds!
Thank you!
“It can’t be…”
DUN DUN DUNNN! ;P
(My guess is that Catt is correct: it’s the Orb of the Gods that he’s now supposed to fetch.)
On another note, it really is pleasant to have a change in scenery – all the more so for you drawing it, I imagine! ^_^
On the artistic side, I’d like to say that I really like the background to that final panel: the softer brushes give the trees (and especially their leaves) a better sense of depth and better convey their forms without becoming intrusive, the ground is nicely varied and the brushes and effects used for the ground, stream-bank and water are all rather effective, I think. ^_^
Finally: Poor, poor Derk. :/
By the way: can lurkins and humans interbreed?
i think that’s where elves come from
I think I know what you’re getting at. We’ll touch on that later, but… what do you think? Would that explain a thing or two?
Also, thanks! I love drawing nature scenes so much! Let’s just spend the rest of the comic’s run frolicking around outdoors and never go back to the castle.
i think i see some human lurkin shinnanigans afoot? lol.
which opens up a whole new breed of “sub-species” of elves
and thats why hes called cliff hangur..
ranterpr sagacious???
i have no idea what captcha is tryin to say
It wants someone to rant sagaciously, I presume – bring on Lomurcio!
Couldn’t resist.

Ohhh my gosh, Skärva is so pretty and is my childhood hero
And you are my favorite person for today
I cannot wait to see what becomes of this storyline.
I hope Skärva comes out with a least a slight victory.
Well, this storyline is the rest of the comic, essentially
So stick with us! I do believe it will be rather surprising, but also very rewarding… I hope!
“You need the sword of stabbing”
*Blank still has the sword*
Beautifully drawn backgrounds!
