Wow! I can’t believe I’m finally posting this. I’ve been working on this page bit by bit for weeks! Do you remember being in this bar before? Lots of things have changed about it, but shh, just pretend it was always this way…
Again, some friends of mine in here. Can you spot anything else?
…ENGUARDE?! D:
also another cat! Does this one have a name?
She’s based on a cat I had as a kid who was named Chansey! …They don’t have the Pokemon in this world to name it after, though, so let’s go with Chance or Chancey!
And don’t worry, that’s not Enguarde. It’s his cousin, Havatyou.
Gosh the details on this page are incredible, especially comparing to the older pages of the bar!!
)
(That’s also making me want to go back and reread Chapter 3 now – it’s been years since I read the first few chapters at this point but I think I read everything two or three times in high school.
I also see someone already pointed out Enguarde’s cousin, so now I must ask if the other mounted fish is just an ordinary anglerfish or a reference to the lovely Lord Woo Fak Fak
Thanks!! Sometimes the older comics cause me pain with how little I knew what I was doing back then, haha, but I still really dearly love the pirate arc. It was a time of big artistic growth for me, and you can see how different my art is from the beginning to the end.
Yes, that was his little (literally) sister, Lady Fakyu. RIP
Its been a while since I read the pirate chapters. Skarva wasn’t interested in his share of the gold right? only the next key?
Also the chair have hole in the back for the lizardy peoples is a nice touch.
Yup! Both the demon and the human here are right in their own ways. The pirates did threaten them, but Skärva has enough money and that’s not what he was interested in, so he wasn’t going to take anything besides the key anyway. (Cyril probably would have liked to take a bit, though…)
Also multiple people have pointed out the chair-holes, haha! I’m glad it’s such an appreciated touch. The demon bar from waaay back in the story had them too, albeit much smaller!
