That’s Skärva’s childhood chest! The little blue scrap is his first cape.
THE CAT RETURNS! …I didn’t mean to make a reference there.
Speaking of references though, pretty sure I see a few! Jinjo? K. Rool? Slytherin scarf? Could be wrong on the last on though. That was a long time ago. :’>
It’s also oddly endearing he kept his first cape?
Those are the only ones I intended! I didn’t know if people would catch the scarf or if they’d just think it was some random scarf…
I like to think that Skärva is a Slytherin, Derk is a Hufflepuff, Lorelei’s a Gryffindor, annd… either round it out with Veronika or Cyril being the Ravenclaw.
Probably it’d be Veronika.
Well, they’re both Ravenclaws. I just meant, if you wanted to round out a nice little group of four.

Such a great comic you guys! I followed a link from the webcomic switcheroo WASP-dealy from one of my other favorites, Penny Blackfeather, and ended up going through your entire archive in a little under 2 days. I knew I was getting close to the end when you posted that comment about the end of Gravity Falls. Oh how I long for the times when I was reading comics dated 2012 and I knew I had more time!
I suppose that just means I have more fun to look forward to! Your characters, your stories, your world, it’s all wonderful! Plus, even though this comic is sort of video game-based, and I’m not much of a gamer, you guys know/reference the only video game I’ve ever really played, Banjo Kazooie! Keep up the good work!

Well that makes me question the validity of every sacred artifact I’ve gone looking for.
Is Skarva purpler in the lower half of the page? Some weird light? He can’t be blushing around the princess, can he?
I made the coloring in the green-background panels purpler just for visual interest. And the coloring is also rosier on both of them in the princess’s room due to the reflection of all the pinkness everywhere…

Haha, that’s true! I see it as either him being well-meaning but clueless… “What do princesses like? Pink? Cute animals?” And not realizing she loves birds (and therefore dislikes cats) and hates that color. OR, he’s onto it, and had her room decorated that way to mess with her. I think it started out as the first when he knew her less well, then morphed into the latter.
It’s interesting, if they had Harry Potter in this world, it wouldn’t be an intriguing fantasy but rather dystopian fiction. “Imagine a world where so few people could use magic that they had to keep themselves isolated and hidden because all the non-magical people would freak out! That would suck!”

Skärva’s room’s windows look like it would make an interesting room. It’d be sweet to have all that view at the top of a castle.

Yeah, his ceiling is all windows! And he has more huge windows on the right side of his bed. I would love a room like that! Of course, someone could watch you sleeping, but they’d have to get up there! It’s a good thing there’s no creature in this comic that can fly and commonly spies on others!
There might as well be walls there he has so much privacy.
Really though, such a cool room.
I love how willing the princess is to do what Skarva says. Then again, he is holding her luggage hostage…
a) She’s got nothing better to do, b) SHE wants to delay Blank getting there as much as Skärva does…

I like how Veronika is so relaxed about this. It took me a moment to remember she was already in Castle Skarva. I do find it odd that she was worried about Skarva being about to get out of the cursed castle (its name slips my mind). It seems that while the characters are fighting each other, they do have a working friendship.
I appriciated all the references in his chest, they made me giggle. I think some of my favorite interactions are with Skärva and Veronika
They are hillarious together in that they don’t like each other, but don’t seem to hate each other, and still get along. They probably would even be friends on Facebook but not message each other
And both hate Blank.they just hate him cause he’s poor.
