WELL.IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE WAS LATE POSTING THE WEBCOMIC BY FIVE MINUTES. HMMMMM…
Jst kidding!
I already like him. I want him. He is mine now. You cannot have him back.
I had one hell of a rough night, friend. I’m glad I got it up here at all. If it wasn’t for the Second I might have just said screw it, but I couldn’t leave you guys hanging like that.
If Tiberius Skarva It’s father is the one who incited the curse, it must have hit him when he was just a kid… poor guy. I can see it now: pimply teenager Tiberius finally scoring a date with his first love, going in for a kiss… BOOM. Shark teeth in some girl’s face. Man, ain’t that a reason to study your years away for a counter-hex.
Huh. If this guy don’t have a tragic backstory, I don’t know who does. Especially given how hardheadedly Skarva IV is going after embracing the curse. Even going so far as to rush headlong after the gods…
I wouldn’t say IV embraces the curse, but he really doesn’t care about breaking it so much as revenge and proving a point. III was always the type to accept what fate threw at him, and actually quite enjoyed capitalizing on the whole shark thing. But both of them were born cursed… not transfigured in the prime of their lives…
Hunh. Given his intro, and the way he first reacts here, I think not all of the Second’s dogs are barking, if you know what I mean. So my question is, was he driven a little bit mad by the curse, or by spending his life and afterlife searching for a cure?
‘Cause, let’s think for a minute…he’s a ghost. Even if he found the cure, would it affect him? Or would he be stuck like that? Still he plows on…it’s almost like he forgot that he died. I might just be reading into it a bit too much, but there’s some food for thought from this guy.
Also, why is Derk so scared of him? He had no problem with the ghost of the Third…
You have the right idea. I don’t know how much we’re going to reveal as far as this particular encounter goes, and I don’t want to give anything else away. Well, scratch that, I’d love to give everything away and have a nice long talk with everyone about the Second and his unfair, unfortunate life. But I shouldn’t. I love that you’re thinking about our characters… I certainly do, and the Second has that heartbreaking backstory I’m ever so fond of. But there’s only so much I can tell you right now!
It’s not the fact he’s a ghost. Derk is surrounded by ghosts. It’s his instabilty and unpredictability and… well, something else too.
No, it’s ok. He’s surrounded by friends, don’t you see? Wise friends, friends who tell wonderful stories and terrible truths, friends that offer him happiness and refuge…
Skarva, sooner or later, someone’s going to be able to read that second pair of eyebrows and they’ll know your true feelings.
The Second looks like he’s really quite sweet, I think Derk just hates darkness/dust/bugs. XD
All I can think of from the comments is that like, the Second was a hero, and had a good life, and then got cursed, and his wife didn’t find out until after the Third was born, and she left him or died or something equally horribly sad.
Does this mean we’ll find out exactly the contents of this curse? Other than just being a sharky-face and bad luck with heroes.
Very, very good. Not quite there, but very good guessing.
Well, that’s pretty much all there is. Essentially it’s a mark of disfavor and disgrace from the gods. You will learn some day what exactly brought it about, and why sharks. Maybe the First will tell you…
So… does this mean that the fifth (if there is a fifth) will have 5 eyebrows? I can see this getting very bad for generations to come… (I changed my name :D) (It’s Akari)
That’s why Skärva can’t have behbeh D: No, really I think the gods have SOME decency. Either it’ll revert back to two or stabilize at four. But to avoid taking the risk, maybe there just won’t be a Fifth. Doesn’t mean Skärva won’t have children, but I don’t know how set he is on continuing his name. He doesn’t really have much time to think about that right now, and I guess it all depends on what lies ahead…

NO NO NO!!!
YES. YES. YES.
The Second/book OTP
IDK why but that popped into my head so why not post a comment about it?
HAHAHAHA
You’re… more right than you know.
Look at how he runs his hands along her pages…
Sad, but fluffy.
I just want to hug him! Poor Grampa Skarva!
The worst part about him being dead is that his hair looks so soft, and his eyebrows, but you can’t really feel them D:
Ok maybe that’s not the WORST part about him being dead. But it’s pretty sad.
Unless if there is an Artifact of Ghastly Touch. That pun was intentional.

Not quite, but you’re on the right track.
So, wait… Maybe The First got cursed BEFORE The Second was born?
But hey, that’s just a theory…
A SHARK THEORY!
-RU =)

Indeed, he is my token sad-backstory character.

I guess Skarva’s cape IS magic. Derk disappeared into it.

Derk, get back here and talk to Skärva 2. He’s lonely sitting all by himself in the library looking for a cure to shark-man-itis.
No, it’s ok. He’s surrounded by friends, don’t you see? Wise friends, friends who tell wonderful stories and terrible truths, friends that offer him happiness and refuge…
Also the bugs.
aww i like him…
Our Fourth better watch out before adorable grandpa steals all his love.
Hey look I have an account now guys

The Second looks like he’s really quite sweet, I think Derk just hates darkness/dust/bugs. XD
He’s a dear. I love him to death. Um… perhaps that was an insensitive choice of words.
I like him. He’s even trying to make an attempt at a friendly smile, (not so easy for a shark-man), for Lorelei!
Yay! Everyone likes you, Mr. The Second! Please don’t be sad!
To me, his eyebrows look like a guy with a moustache.
If you look at his face upside down…. BAHAHAHA this is great.

Why does the Fourth have four eyebrows and the Second not? Is it GENETICS? I don’t know why I capitalized that. :/
It’s the gods having a weird sense of humor.
I think the Third has it the worst, with his unibrow/extra-brows combo.
So… does this mean that the fifth (if there is a fifth) will have 5 eyebrows? I can see this getting very bad for generations to come… (I changed my name :D) (It’s Akari)

They look so sad, pathetic, and pitiable.
