Yeah, the second panel is totally not just some weird silhouette coloring thing I was experimenting with. The pirates’ greed momentarily overcame them, and they turned into golden statues. It’s a morality tale, like that of King Midas.
Ah, I thought it was their escape from the awkward situation. Like they just kind of slowly slid backwards and got absorbed into the gold. Lorelei saw right through the disguise though.

It’s kind of odd to see Skarv look so… surprised. He’s spent most of this chapter looking angry and squinty.
Whoa! So he CAN open his eyes all the way!
I was expecting a dramatic “YOU GOT A KEY” a la Paper Mario. Guess that only works for heroes?
Not like Skarvs would have any patience for it anyway!
So not all keys are … keys? Makes me wonder if the key the minions got is really the key.
