Over the river and through the woods!

Oh hey hero, it’s been a while!
I really imagine that Blank’s house would have some kind of sign on/near it that says “Blank!” like Mario or Yoshi, but we didn’t want to give it away…
Does he realize he just kicked his own door out, and does he sleep with that sword, or what?
He sleeps nestled with the cold steel against his skin, wishing it was Veronika. The sword couldn’t possibly cut him any deeper than she does.
…Wow ok HAPPY COMIC FUNTIMES
That’s the funniest/saddest/creepiest thing I’ve read in a week. Well done.
Well, thank you. I’m glad. XD
So, do Blank kick his door down for all visitors?
*DOES
…wow, I’m tired!~
If they come in the middle of the night, yes. Or… perhaps he really has never learned what a doorknob is…
Wait, what?! Is there a conspiracy happening?!
*Does double-take* ((O_o))
I was wondering if Derk would get worried enough about this latest scheme to actually alert Blank about it. I don’t know why he brought Frozio, though, unless he was just so desperate that he didn’t bother to waste time getting rid of him. Says a lot about how Derk feels, considering how scared he is of this hero.
Or, maybe we’re reading this all wrong, and Derk and Blank hang out on downtimes and play cards and such. Derk could’ve just forgotten that they had a..I dunno…bowling or tee time set up and was worried he was late.
“Here, I brought you a penguin. Don’t hurt me!”
Derk needed a witness.
Frozio’s coming along for an “interview” might have just been an excuse to go there, too.
WHAT. …WHAT.
Alright, let’s see where this goes…
…nice hat and hairy arms, Blank.
I like my men hairy, what can I say?
Derk, meeting with the enemy in the middle of the night? NOT SUSPICIOUS AT ALL.
Poor Frozio looks miserable…
Not only is he so far out of his preferred habitat, but he just had to run quite a long way, and he has like… NO LEGS to speak of.
Whoa, there! A certain droopy hat might make a certain character look like a certain other character with a similar green hat! loljk
Also, you could’ve made one of those little signs that you can’t read that says something like /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\.
It has a fuzzy ball on the end of it, man. Totally different. ^_^; (It just ended up being cut off in this comic…)
Maybe it’s up near the roof and Frozio’s speech box is perfectly blocking it.
jaw drop……… whaaaa?
blank always kicks his own door down and threates guess with his sleepy sword,(because he is so excited to have a guessed) then gives them a blank stare. That why they named him blank.
To be fair… if one of my arch-enemies showed up at my house in the middle of the night with a penguin, I would probably give them a blank stare too.
Hmmm whats this? Potentially the best plot twist I have seen all month?!? No not likely, I am rarely that lucky. But I will love to see were this goes.
wha…… EVERYTHING I KNOW IS WRONG!!!
Calling it now: Dirk thinks Skarva has gone too far with his new scheme. After all, Dirk is a light magic user and presumably draws his power from the gods.
Naw, they discussed the nature of magic a while back; magical power has nothing to do with the gods.
Not gonna lie I totally thought Blank was a zombie or dead when I saw him, but it’s just dark.
Interesting. A test for the new minion Frozio? Or maybe a shady negotiation?
WAIT!
Maybe Derk is secretly the main antagonist, and maybe he is a servant of the Gods and has been secretly sabotaging Skaerva’s plans to rule Idenau by hiring inept minions like Davis, and generally playing the role of dumb muscle so no one will suspect him. Maybe he realizes that Skaerva’s latest scheme threatens his superiors, and he is seeking to collaborate with Blank to bring an end to our Land-Shark Overlord once and for all!!
Or maybe he just wants some bacon…
You guys are crazy. I love it. I’m sad though, I’m having to reach a point where I can’t respond to everyone anymore, because I love it when you speculate and I don’t want to confirm or deny anything as our story is starting to get deeper…
What a twist.
What the – THAT was not what I was expecting. Like, at all.
I have gotten the impression from how they talked in their last fight that these two don’t exactly hate each other; in fact, they seem rather resigned yet saddened by the situations that put them at odds. They seem to respect each other; well, at least Blank showed some respect for Dirk. I felt sad at that fight. So it will be interesting to see what this does now and where it goes.
As to what in heaven’s name FROZIO is doing there, well that lost me. XD The complete absurdity and out-of-the-blue idea of Dirk dragging Frozio to visit Blank’s house is one of the best random plot points I’ve seen in ages.
But AUGH I have to wait LONGER to find out what Skaerva III was going to say! D:
You know, I’m starting to get a bit suspicious. Derk and Blank both have brown hair, hairy arms, light magic affinity, and have an unhealthy relationship with Skarva. Perhaps the only reason that Blank hasn’t filleted the lovable oaf is that blood runs thicker than water?
I was wondering that too, but if they are it’s not that close. Blank’s an orphan, so his family is kaput by default. And Derk’s half Lurkin, at least.
Maybe . . . cousins, or second cousins, or maybe even just knew each other growing up?
The orphan scenario isn’t impossible, technically. Orphans are children who lost their parents, not necessarily their entire family.
Though agreed, it’s pretty dang improbable. They don’t look that similar…
My bet’s on Derk being a “reformed” servant of good, turned servant of evil.
Servant of Skarva, rather. He’s more of the Saturday morning cartoon evil rather than dictator evil. Or to put it another way, he’s more Megatron than Mussolini.
does blank get guest offten? or just scare them away with that sword of poking?
So he’s favored by the gods, yet he lives in a wood cabin while our villain lives in a giant castle. The gods need to get it together.
Seriously, the one of the best parts about this entire comic is reading the hilarious comments!
Fist post. I have recently read the whole comic, and it’s awesome. I like how you have managed to make Skärva sympathetic without making a total inversion of roles: The princess is still likeable, and even Blank, while a thuggish hillbilly, isn’t really evil (he just does his job of rescuing the princess).
Thank you, and welcome! I’m glad you enjoy what we do.
Wait, the mighty hero Blank, savior of the princess and the land of Idenau, lives in a grungy shack in the middle of Skarva’a swamp? Damn, Skarva’s nicer to his worst enemy than the gods are to their own messenger…
I mean… let’s be fair. Skärva would probably give Blank some even worse living conditions, if he had the chance.
…But yeah the gods are pretty much jerks.
