I seem to have fallen behind in life recently. Hopefully the comic will be back on schedule now though!
The other day Victor and I were at Petsmart and I saw a betta that looked quite like the Commodore! I always feel so bad for them in their little cups. 
I also just realized that the Captain has a red feather and the Commodore has a green one. Complimentary colors, BEST FOES FOREVER
Well, Skærva needs to calm down a bit. Maybe if he tried brushing his hair, he’d have the necessary order in his life again.
I was not aware that Flish had teeth. Yeah, that’s all I got.
Flish are based on betta fish after all, and they have tiny terrifying teeth that they can use to rip each other apart. If you ever wondered how flish attack (Blank), that’s how. These navy guys think they’re too cool with their rapiers though.
Hmm… It seems odd to me that Skarva (the SHARK-MAN) would be particularly adverse to swimming. Is he any good at it? Does he have gills?
He swims well enough for a human. Way back in the comic’s early days, I intended for him to have gills and that’s why he and his dad wear collars, to hide them. But I decided the gods wouldn’t have wanted the curse to come with any advantages. Alas!
I have the feeling that it will be inevitable that Skarva will have to team up with Captain Goldgills, whether they want to or not.
We shall see! At any rate there’s going to be some actual high seas swashbuckling adventure coming up, now that the “thrown in jail” mini-arc is over. I’m excited!
He just needs some real food; then he’ll be happy. Bowls don’t count.

I have question, though it’s not very insightful. If all of the characters of the Fourth comic could pick their favorite song from the music we have in our reality today society, what would they pick and why?
Hmm, it’s hard to say. Sometimes I find a song that really reminds me of a certain character, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it would be their favorite. People’s tastes in music can be surprising!
This one makes me think of Floyd though. And pretty much anything by Sugar Ray.
(Would Floyd like Pink Floyd though? Considering that’s how we came up with his name…)

Kingdom Bards! Ah jeez this makes me want to go to the Renaissance Festival. DO YOU KNOW HOW OFTEN I THINK ABOUT RENFEST, it’s ridiculous. “Going to RenFest” is becoming like a second Christmas for me.

Also, I noticed a lack of the Captain and Commodore on the character page. I think they deserve a recurring character slot.
I’ve just been thinking about that! I’ll talk to Victor and see if we can’t add them. They’re definitely main characters as far as this part of the story is concerned.
If I were Skaerva I would have replied with “And I’LL never forget the time the “GREAT” CAPTAIN GOLDGILLS was broken out by a little girl!!!” And I also hate seeing the fish at pet stores in the tiny little cups… Which is why at one point I had three.
No kidding.
My second betta, Sweeney, was being used as a table decoration at a graduation party I went to. I saved him from being taken home by a scary little girl who reminded me of that girl from Finding Nemo.
You are a good person. Also, just out of curiosity, was your first beta named Todd?
Nah, HIS name was Magus Zheng-He Enguarde.
Yeah.
Sweeney was red, he looked like a drop of blood in the water. I suppose it was an appropriate name in other aspects, considering the conversation below about how bettas are scary little murder machines. But such pretty ones.
Does the Commodore hug often?

Male Beta-fish will murder-squeeze the eggs out of the female during the mating process.
The last panel reminded me of this.

I just reviewed betta fish mating. Where the female will eat her recently-spewed eggs if the male doesn’t chase her away, but then the male might eat his babies as soon as they hatch.
Dear gods. I’d like to believe flish are a bit more sensible about this process.
Fucking lord, those fish are crazy…
Beta-fish should be, like, extinct by now.
But they seem to have murdered their way in to species immortality…
