Sorry this page took so long. The poses took me a while to figure out; so did being consistent with all the bloody detail.. but mainly it’s just that the first week of work really wore me out.
first FIRST COMMENT secondly I like how skarva (cant do the fancy letter) admits that was a bit of an idiot more importantly Lorelei’s (fail spell?) unwillingess to heal him because he said he wouldn’t have gotten hurt this time and she worries about him. Also Skarva’s battle wounds I’m pretty sure his father is standing in a corner going “WHAT?! HOW CAN HE SURVIVE THAT- oh he’s got a healer lucky bastard’ *goes through wall* Very mature Skarva the 3rd
Would not surprise me at all if The Third is floating around watching this; I should have drawn him in the window… then again, this is such an old routine to him, and HE certainly didn’t expect his son to win, so why be there? He’s probably chillin on some haunted beach.
At first I could only see the top two panels and I swear my heart skipped a beat when Lorelei said no. ;^; I wanted to reach through the screen and hug him!!!
required enaIsc- my family has no idea how we’re going to afford my enaIsc when I go to college…
As for plot-predictions…hmm…related to an earlier theory: Derk is going to turn out to be related to a god or needed to defeat one and Skarva will have to choose between his friend and victory.
Or, Lorelei’s a god’s relative/goddess incarnate with amnesia, and it’d go like the above.
Mr. Floyd’s first name is either going to be something really goofy or somehow very meaningful.
Skarva is going to accidentally kill someone, leading to copious amounts of angst (okay, that one’s unlikely, you’d run such a heavy risk of Cerebus Syndrome and with a comic and people that can be so humorous…).
Don’t count on Floyd’s name being meaningful though, pfft
Yeah, though the plot will turn and twist and the characters will grow, we’re not going to do some kind of total tonal shift with the comic… if you started reading it because it was light-hearted and funny with a touch of bittersweet, we wouldn’t want to pull the rug out from under you!
i really love how this page shows the relationship between these two. its so adorable and yet so deep. yet in the midst of all this Skarva can’t get his mind off villainy. oh Skarva…
Yeah. I love it too. Especially the third panel, how he’s all contrite, with the little girl disciplining the big scary villain. (She can’t stay mad at him for long, though… awww.)
The biggest, baddest roller coaster in Idenau! With exciting highs of hilarity and suspense, flashes of backstory, and a greater view of the kingdom than you’ve ever experienced.
I think inevitably we all end up hurting the people we love at some point or another, no matter how much we try to avoid it, but sometimes we WANT to because we are all selfish and most of us are easily offended. Oh to be human!
I was going to give him a lightbulb by his head in the last panel, I really was, becaues they DO have them in Idenau… but it seemed too cheesey for this moment.
Last time I tried to defeat some gods we ended up having a tea party (still gotta return one of their sceptars though damn things been firing off like a machine gun) Skarva should at least get some magic armor first if he’s going up against some gods they sure saved my butt (it also had a fact to do with some matrix dodges here and there)
Captcha is author poZala hm never heard of that author
Nightmares version 2.0~! Do healing powers work against god-given wounds? Do they work in the realm of the gods? These are questions she can’t know for sure…
For some reason I think you just gave away some plot details. (Such as the story behind a certain permanent eye wound, and where a certain man with such a wound will eventually be going)
…did I say too much?
PS… you didn’t have to tell me that thing about Derk and Blank before. I didn’t think you would (and hope you don’t) give away plot details ahead of time.
Actually… not quite. For one thing, you can’t take anything I say about the future of the comic too seriously. I know better than to give away any plot points, and besides, Victor would not be pleased if I did – and would edit my comments. But I’ll try to refrain from saying anything about the past as well, or who may or may not be secretly related to each other. We have a lot of backstory and elaboration and world-building that we’re saving up, I just fear we’ll never get to it all, so sometimes I’m tempted to spill the beans, or at least spill a bean or two. As much as I enjoy talking to you guys, I still need to learn to bite my tongue better.
…The eye thing, I still believe will blow everyone’s mind.
Skärva… No, no, we know what you’re thinking. Don’t. They’ll make you suffer in ways that /none/ of us can even imagine. If you must, just try to talk to them about the whole thing and point out that by favoring one mortal over all others and trodding on an entire family tree they are setting up a really bad and prejudice-filled future.
Pffft, the gods already favor humans above all else, I don’t think they care much about a prejudice-filled future – if anything that will only make things more interesting for them. But yeah, if those gods try to make Skarva suffer too much, I will beat them myself. (…This is getting kind of meta.)
But meta is fun. While the gods do favor humans (that seems to be a trend in fantasy… that or they are evil entities who pile all kinds of shit on humans), that begs the question of whether or not there are other god-like beings whom power or boons may be garnered from. Not necessarily ‘evil’ deities but ones more sympathetic to Skärva and his ilk. Because let’s face it, gods favoring one race and basically being all “yeah go ahead and kick that being’s ass and we’ll smite them if they rise up against you.”
I must say, though, it is brilliant that Derk is a Light magic user. His presence around Skarvy might mitigate some of the burnt of smiting but not by much. After all, anyone who defies the local violent heroic teen *must* be evil.
just looking at skarva makes me cringe a little his wounds look so serious I’m surprised he came to with those kind of wounds. Also how does Lorelei keep up with her healing? especially with the whole bunch of minions she had to deal with I’m surprised when she tries to heal she doesn’t go put put from the overwork of her healing.
She’s pretty over-powered. There seems to be no limit to her ability as long as she is in good health herself. There is a reason for that too, which you will find out some day…
you know Skarva could improve his relation with the gods even a tiny bit, throw some shrines here and there fer freaks sake do a little offering maybe then the gods won’t fire their bad luck ray at the rate of a machine gun on crack.
I’ve got blue hair and if you want to join me buy blue hair dye,
My pocket monsters are not my freinds,
But I made one happy enough to evolve somehow,
THE POWER OF G WILL DEFEAT ALL(even though a 12 year old beat me)REMEMBER THAT!!!
I just started reading through my webcomics (well, technicly the ones I read, not the ones I write, but you could guess that) after having lost net for about 2 months, and catching up on this comic has probably been the most fun so far. I had to stop and comment on this one instead of the last one because, well by the way Skarva seems to have a revelation there he’s probably planning a plot much like bowser did for Paper Mario 1. Also didn’t read all the comments but glad to see a comic that’s sticking to the mood in which it started, I’ve seen too many comics ruined by going from lighthearted to soap operas. It’s also nice to finally know there’s a name for that sort of major shift in a comic, so it’ll be easier to explain from now on, except for when I talk to people that dont’ know what Cerebus Syndrome means, which probably means I’ll have to use the lengthy explanation anyway ^^;
But anyway, I’m interested in seeing exactly where this new plot will lead.
I’m glad to hear it. We want the twists to come in the plot, not from radically changing the mood of the story, and while we want our characters to grow as well as reveal surprises they’ve been hiding all along, we don’t want to transform them from the people you (and we) have come to love.
I think I can see where this is going…
I kinda wonder what would have happened if she hadn’t said that thing about the gods though, if he would have given up and tried to do something more progressive
I think the idea had been forming in his subconscious for a while… he just needed a push. He would have come to it eventually anyway, so Lorelei ought not to beat herself up too much…

I DON’T KNOW WHAT MY EMOTIONS ARE DOING!!!!!!
Great job, love it like always.
I NO LONGER HAVE EMOTIONS
I’M SORRY TO HEAR THAT
I’m gonna stop yelling now, having the caps lock on is annoying. :/

Blank is a Time Lord. /shot
I WANT TO HUG ALL OF THEM ALL THE TIME
These are clever. I like.
Don’t count on Floyd’s name being meaningful though, pfft

OH BOY HERE WE GO
Hang on tight and get ready for
ARC THREE
The biggest, baddest roller coaster in Idenau! With exciting highs of hilarity and suspense, flashes of backstory, and a greater view of the kingdom than you’ve ever experienced.
Hey look! Skaerva’s hair sits down to symbolize his depression! (Oh, and possible life threatening injuries. But whatever,)
Yeah, it’s mainly just being all sweaty and mussed, same reason Lorelei’s hair has given up on life right now. …Plus blood too.
Oh god skarva what are you planning now o.o
More like “oh gods.”
I wonder if that second black eye is permanent…you’re so abusive towards him, PJ.
I know. Why must we hurt the ones we love?
And heck no, Lorelei will take that thing right off, I’m not going to have him go through the rest of his existence looking like a raccoon.
…I guess because the plot demands it?
…I hope that’s not true of life.
I think inevitably we all end up hurting the people we love at some point or another, no matter how much we try to avoid it, but sometimes we WANT to because we are all selfish and most of us are easily offended. Oh to be human!
If I may be so bold as to say, Lightbulb.
I was going to give him a lightbulb by his head in the last panel, I really was, becaues they DO have them in Idenau… but it seemed too cheesey for this moment.
uuh ooh somthing good is about to happen.
and wsgnet
So much goodness. But gradually. And yes, we can throw in some wsgnet if you’d like.

Dear heavens, that Skärva… how do you make him so adorable… this is crazy ;_;
I don’t have healing powers like Lorelei, but do you think he’ll let me hug him too? 8D;
Probably not, to be honest, but don’t take it personally. He could probably count the entire amount of people whom he’d let hug him on one hand.
Lorelei, why’d you say that?! Now Skärva’s gonna do something crazy and you won’t be able to heal him, unless you become Skärva the Fifth.

I’m happy again.
on a unrelated note yesterdays answer was jack krauser.
Yay!

Here we go again! Let’s see his next plan bear fruit this time; it’d be too disappointing to see him fail again.
“wapentake Buttac”… But I don’t wanna wh(a)op anyone and take their buttocks.
you know Skarva could improve his relation with the gods even a tiny bit, throw some shrines here and there fer freaks sake do a little offering maybe then the gods won’t fire their bad luck ray at the rate of a machine gun on crack.
