We almost called it Crown Town

This comic was way harder for me than it should have been. I guess it was figuring out to do with the darkness and the light.
You can’t read the title of that book, but it’s “Evil is for Everyone!”
PS: LOOK WE ARE ON TIME AGAIN. I hope this is a trend.
In before A Random Person: “Skärva pulling a book says ‘pulling!’ all the time.”
DAM! u beeat me to it!
lol thats my line
“Pulling!” isn’t even a sound effect. I don’t know why I put that there, I almost went crazy and put “careless toss!” in panel 4, too…
Secret walls and bookshelfs say *rumble* all the time!
I think naming it Crown Town would have been a refreshing bit of honesty.
Stop coddling us!
See. I thought it was funny. Me and Victor had a laugh attack at the thought, though. “Sure, boss, we’re going to downtown Crown Town where we’ll have ourselves a showdown throwdown.” I suppose if we wanted to be serious about one name, it would be the capital of Idenau.
Maybe Crownskeep is just the castle though. There’s still hope for us to change this.
and also the front view of skarva seems a lil wierd.
as for ur shading is just fine!
lastly bookshelves say “RRRRUMBLE” all the time HA!
Argh, front Skärva is weird, I know. I try to avoid it, I’ve only done it twice now. But it’s good for surprising moments.
I’m still not so sure about the shading, but thanks. Shading is something I’ve always struggled with, but I can do realistic shading alright. It’s actually cel-shading that’s harder for me…
I’d say you successfully pulled off the darkness effect, it has just the right mix of visibility and… well, darkness!
I imagine panel 4 was the hardest part?
Also, secret doors say, “RRRRUMBLE” all the time.
Well darn, I really should have looked at the other comments before I said that, sorry random person!
Thank you! All of the last four panels were hard in their own way. Trying to figure out how to do the tunnel walls in the last two was surprisingly difficult, and the back-shading in panel 4 is something I’ve never really done before.
Also, I don’t know if you saw my comment on the blog about donating, but I just wanted to let you know that I donated $10. The payment is under my mom’s name, but it still has my e-mail attached.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! *hug* I’ll be in contact soon about a cameo. :3 You are truly kind, my friend.
You’re welcome! I can hardly wait!
Holy dramatic lighting, Batman!
I like how you lit Skarva in panel 5!
(“Evil is for Everyone?” I’d pick up that book just for the hell of it and totally find that passage on accident…)
Overall, I like the lighting used for the tunnel – nicely atmospheric. ^_^
One note that I have is that having an orange torch give off white light feels a little off-putting to me; casting orange light on them might feel a little more natural, and perhaps even a little more atmospheric.
As to the cel-shading itself, I think that I rather like it. ^_^
You’re right. I don’t think there’s any way I could fix it because I was in a bit of a rush and messed my layers up, so I’d have to completely redraw them if I wanted to recolor them… but I’ll keep that in mind next time anything is lit by a fire.
I LIKE front Skaerva! Almost as much as I like side Skaerva. Heck, is there even a bad angle on that guy?
I love how he’s on a secret mission in a dark passage to kidnap a princess from her own home…and he’s bringing a little girl along. Lorelei’s happy “I’m totally OK with this” face there in panels 4 and 5 as the plan is being summarized makes me laugh.
Still loving your brushwork. Great job on lighting too!
Aww. Well, he takes Lorelei with him in case something goes horribly wrong. You never know what kind of messes a villain could run into, and a healer is very useful. It’s not because he’s just fond of her or anything, that’s silly, everyone knows he has no patience for children…
And being raised by villains is the only life Lorelei knows (except for wandering around in the snow for a couple weeks), so kidnapping princesses is like a trip to Chuck E. Cheese’s for her.
Here is a comment!
Parodies one of my favorite genres, check. Tells the story from interesting persectives, check. Ridiculously, awesomely hilarious Skärvan faces? CHECK.
Slowly creeping through the archives; love it so far.
